The General Operations Force (PGA) has seized 36,045 litres of suspected crude palm oil worth an estimated RM535,050 in a raid at the Bandar Sultan Suleiman 2 industrial area, believed to be linked to a black market distribution network.
According to Batalion 4 PGA commanding officer Superintendent Amanjit Singh, the operation under Op Taring Palma was carried out at about 1pm yesterday by intelligence officers with assistance from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) Central Region and Klang Utara district police.
During the raid, authorities arrested a 48-year-old local man and a 49-year-old Sri Lankan national who were allegedly involved in the unauthorised transfer of crude palm oil at the site.
Officers also seized a 40-foot tanker lorry along with several tools believed to have been used in the illegal operation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the local suspect worked as a tanker driver earning around RM3,000 monthly, and was allegedly paid RM35 for every 15 litres of crude palm oil sold illegally.
The foreign suspect was reportedly acting as an assistant, earning about RM1,700 a month while assisting in transferring oil into drums, with the syndicate believed to have been active for about eight months.
Authorities said the crude palm oil was allegedly sourced from several processing plants in Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor before being diverted to black market buyers within Selangor.
The seized oil is believed to have been used as an ingredient in counterfeit lubricants as well as for certain religious purposes.
Both suspects, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the Klang Utara district police headquarters and MPOB for further investigation under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998 and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
