Elderly Man Feared Drowned While Fishing In Sungai Bera

An elderly man is feared to have drowned after reportedly falling into Sungai Bera near Kampung Sungai Batu while fishing alone on Thursday.

The victim, identified as 62-year-old Mohamad Shukri Bakar@Hassan, was reported missing after the incident, which occurred at about 4.52pm.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the victim had gone fishing by himself before he was believed to have fallen into the river.

Following the emergency call, a rescue team from the Triang Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene, located about 48 kilometres from the station.

Search and rescue (SAR) operations began immediately, with firefighters conducting surface searches in the area where the victim was last believed to have entered the water.

Mohd Salahuddin said the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) from the Bukit Angin Fire and Rescue Station in Temerloh has also been placed on standby to assist in the ongoing search operation.

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the missing man.
