Sultan Ibrahim Warns Armed Forces Against Corruption And Neglect Of Duty

Date:

The King has reminded members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to avoid corruption and never place personal interests above the nation.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim said every officer beginning their career in the military must lead wisely, fairly and serve as a strong example to subordinates.

“You will begin your career as military officers, which demands physical strength, intellect, discipline and high sacrifice. Remember, there are no bad soldiers, only bad leaders.

“All of you are the backbone of the future armed forces. Therefore, never engage in corruption, never be lazy, and never put personal interests above the nation,” His Majesty said.

Sultan Ibrahim delivered the royal address during the Royal Commissioning Parade for ATM Cadet Officers 2026 at the Military Training Academy (ALK) in Kem Perdana, Sungai Besi.

He also stressed that the government must prioritise the procurement of modern defence assets and equipment to support the transformation towards a “Future Force” concept.

His Majesty said the armed forces must be developed into a more integrated and capable force, ready to face fifth-generation warfare.

He noted that the global and regional security landscape is changing rapidly, with defence doctrines evolving alongside technological advancements, requiring strategic transformation within the ATM.

“Every change requires bold transformation. The Future Force concept is a strategic necessity that must be implemented,” he said.

Sultan Ibrahim urged the government to prioritise high-tech defence acquisitions and support the new structure of the armed forces.

A total of 566 ATM Cadet Officers were commissioned as Second Lieutenants during the ceremony, comprising 466 men and 100 women.

Of these, 438 joined the Malaysian Army, 111 the Royal Malaysian Air Force, and 117 the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Out of the total, 205 were graduates of the National Defence University of Malaysia, while the remaining 361 were degree holders from local and foreign universities who underwent training at various military academies.
