A man was killed while another was injured after the car they were travelling in was involved in a crash with a lorry carrying frozen fish along the Jelukong P-turn on the Pan Borneo Highway on Friday.
A spokesperson from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station said emergency services received a distress call at about 10pm before dispatching a team to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the accident involved a lorry and a car, with two male victims trapped in the wreckage.
One of the victims had already been rescued by members of the public, while another remained trapped in the front section of the vehicle.
Firefighters used specialised rescue equipment to extricate the trapped victim.
However, the man was confirmed dead before rescue teams reached the location.
His body was later handed over to the Ministry of Health (KKM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action.
The second victim, who sustained injuries, received initial treatment from paramedics before being rushed to hospital for further care.
After rescue operations were completed, firefighters conducted cleanup work at the scene to ensure the area was safe before concluding the operation.
