A man has been arrested in Indonesia after allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend following anger over unanswered phone calls and messages, in an incident that unfolded in South Sulawesi.

The victim, identified as Desinta Patriani, 39, suffered injuries to her wrist after being attacked with a knife at Wisma Mallise, located in Sulawesi Selatan, on the day of the incident.

Tanete Riattang Police Chief, AKP Budiawan, confirmed that the suspect, identified as SA, was detained shortly after the attack and has since been remanded to assist investigations.

According to police, the suspect and the victim had previously been in a romantic relationship but had since broken up. Despite the separation, the suspect allegedly continued attempting to contact her repeatedly through calls and messages, which went unanswered.

Authorities said the situation escalated when the suspect went to the victim’s residence to seek an explanation, leading to a heated confrontation between the two parties.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a bladed weapon to attack the victim, causing injury, before family members who heard the commotion rushed in and intervened to stop the assault.

The suspect then attempted to flee the scene and reportedly crashed through a glass window during his escape, sustaining injuries in the process.

Police later arrested the man and recovered items linked to the incident, including a motorcycle and a bag belonging to him. Investigators are also searching for the weapon believed to have been discarded after the attack.

Authorities said initial findings indicate the suspect admitted to disposing of the knife used in the assault, while further investigations are ongoing to locate the weapon and establish the full circumstances of the case.
