PM Announces One-Month Free Rides On Shah Alam LRT3 And Feeder Buses

Date:

Commuters can enjoy free rides on the Shah Alam Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) line for one month beginning tomorrow, June 29, until July 31, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

The free travel initiative also covers Prasarana Malaysia Berhad’s feeder bus services operating along the Shah Alam LRT3 route.

Anwar said the decision was made to ease the financial burden on commuters using one of the country’s busiest transport corridors.

He said the month-long fare exemption is aimed at encouraging greater use of public transport while helping residents cope with daily travel costs.

The announcement was made during the official launch of the Shah Alam LRT3 line at the Johan Setia LRT Depot.

Earlier, the Prime Minister travelled on the new line from Seri Andalas Station to Johan Setia Station, a journey that took about 15 minutes, before officiating the launch ceremony.

The RM16.63 billion Shah Alam LRT3 project is one of the government’s major strategic investments to strengthen Malaysia’s public transport network and improve connectivity in the Klang Valley.

The new line is supported by 40 feeder buses operating across 13 dedicated routes with 323 bus stops, as well as Rapid On-Demand services using 44 vans across 20 zones.

All stations are also equipped with facilities for persons with disabilities (PWD), including wheelchair ramps, accessible toilets and designated seating in every train carriage.
