Fashion Influencer Left Devastated After 150 Designer Handbags Stolen During Maldives Holiday

Date:

Fashion influencer Susie Bubble has revealed that her entire collection of around 150 designer handbags was stolen while she was away on a luxury holiday in the Maldives, leaving her emotionally shaken.

The London-based fashion writer, whose real name is Susanna Lau, shared the ordeal in a video on Instagram after returning home to discover that every handbag had been taken during an apparent break-in.

“All my handbags are gone,” she told her followers.

“About 150 bags, which sounds like a crazy amount, but I collected them over nearly 20 years working in fashion. Many were gifts from people I know, while others were presents I bought for myself.”

She described the theft as deeply personal, saying the collection represented decades of memories and milestones throughout her career.

“I went from being the bag lady. They completely cleared me out,” she said.

Beyond the financial loss, Susie admitted the incident has left her feeling unsafe in her own home.

“I haven’t wanted to go out because I’m scared. Losing so much all at once has really shaken me,” she said.

Despite the emotional impact, the influencer acknowledged that others face far more serious hardships.

“I realise this is the epitome of a first-world problem. Nobody should have that many handbags, and nobody needs that many handbags,” she added.

Susie Bubble is regarded as one of fashion’s earliest digital influencers, rising to prominence through her personal blog before establishing herself as a respected voice in the luxury fashion industry.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over high-profile social media personalities becoming targets for theft after showcasing expensive possessions online.

In 2016, reality TV star Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, with thieves stealing jewellery worth an estimated US$10 million. The traumatic incident prompted her to significantly tighten her personal security and reduce the amount of real-time information she shared online.

Professional footballers have also fallen victim to organised burglary gangs. In 2023, Jack Grealish’s Cheshire home was burgled while the Manchester City midfielder was playing in a match, with jewellery and luxury watches reportedly worth around £1 million stolen.
