Thai Police Probe Narathiwat Bombing As Investigation Into Suspect Continues

Date:

Thai police are continuing to gather evidence and forensic information in the investigation into a roadside bomb explosion in Tak Bai, Narathiwat, which left two Malaysian nationals injured, with only one suspect detained so far.

Narathiwat provincial police chief, Major General Prayong Kotsakha, said investigators are still collecting additional evidence before any further legal action is decided.

He confirmed that one suspect has been arrested but declined to reveal the individual’s identity as the investigation remains ongoing.

Police also refused to comment on the suspect’s alleged role in the attack, stressing that the case is still under active investigation.

Authorities said they are still building the case file and will not disclose further details at this stage.

Investigators are also examining reports that a large number of wristwatches were found in the suspect’s possession, saying this forms part of the wider probe.

In the incident on June 29, two Malaysians were injured when a roadside bomb, believed to have targeted a Thai security convoy, detonated as their vehicle passed the location.

Thai authorities have stressed that the Malaysian victims were not the intended targets of the attack.

The case has since prompted Malaysia and Thailand to strengthen cross-border security cooperation while investigations continue to identify those responsible.
