The Kangar Municipal Council (MPK) seized 400 units of electronic cigarettes and vape liquid, along with 70 related devices worth about RM15,000, during an enforcement operation at a premises in Jalan Padang Behor last night.
MPK president Affendi Rajini Kanth said the raid, carried out between 10.30pm and 1am in cooperation with police, was conducted under the MPK Trade, Business and Industry Licensing By-Laws, in line with the Perlis state government’s ban on vape sales premises effective Aug 1, 2025.
He said the premises had previously been fined on multiple occasions and had also been issued a business cessation notice in August 2025, but was found to still be operating vape-related activities.
Affendi added that under the by-laws, offenders can be fined up to RM2,000, with an additional RM200 compound for each day the offence continues after conviction.
He stressed that the council would continue strict enforcement to ensure compliance with the state’s vape sales prohibition.
