A 26-year-old assistant at the Seremban Fisheries Department Office was killed after his motorcycle allegedly lost control, veered into the opposite lane and was run over by a trailer in an accident along Jalan Pantai-Bukit Tangga on Monday morning.
Nilai District Police Chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said the crash occurred at about 7.52am, with the victim suffering severe head injuries and being pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding a Honda motorcycle from his home in Jelebu to his workplace in Seremban when he reportedly lost control while negotiating a bend.
“The victim’s motorcycle is believed to have skidded into the opposite lane before he fell beneath a trailer driven by a 41-year-old man.
“The trailer driver was unable to avoid the collision, and the vehicle’s rear tyre ran over the victim’s head. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the trailer driver was uninjured,” Johari said in a statement.
The victim’s body has been sent to the Forensic Unit of Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Johari added that further investigations, including a Puspakom vehicle inspection, toxicology tests on the victim’s blood samples, and efforts to locate independent witnesses, are underway to determine the cause of the crash, as there was no closed-circuit television (CCTV) coverage in the area.
