JPJ Denies Viral TikTok Video, Says AI-Generated Clip Falsely Depicts Counter Dispute

Date:

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has dismissed a viral TikTok video claiming to show an argument between a member of the public and one of its counter staff, saying the footage was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).

JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the video, uploaded by the TikTok account Irfan Zaky @silento_91, contains false claims and was designed to make it appear as though the incident took place at a JPJ office.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Aedy Fadly stressed that the clip is fake and is believed to have been created using AI technology.

“The content is misleading, provocative and has tarnished the image and reputation of the department,” he said.

Preliminary checks found that the video had been manipulated using elements resembling the government’s official identity, including an office layout, visual displays, as well as the JPJ name and logo, giving viewers the impression that the incident was genuine.

The viral clip allegedly showed an individual complaining that only one JPJ service counter was open, while claiming staff were still on break even though the official lunch hour had ended.

Aedy Fadly said JPJ has lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action under the relevant laws.

He also urged the public to remain cautious, avoid believing or sharing unverified content, and obtain information only through JPJ’s official communication channels to prevent the spread of misinformation and public confusion.
