Harry Styles Sets Wembley Record After Historic 12-Night Sold-Out Residency

Date:

British pop superstar Harry Styles has made history after completing a record-breaking 12-night sold-out residency at Wembley Stadium, becoming the musician with the longest concert residency ever staged at the iconic London venue.

The achievement was officially recognised by the Guinness World Records, which confirmed on Monday that Styles had set a new benchmark with his historic run of performances.

The Wembley concerts began on 12 June as part of the singer’s world tour celebrating the release of his fourth solo album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Will Munford described the accomplishment as a reflection of the scale and ambition of Styles’ live performances, as well as the strong connection he has built with fans around the world.

The final show on Saturday ended on an emotional note as Styles paid tribute to his former One Direction bandmates – Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and the late Liam Payne.

Throughout the London residency, social media was flooded with videos of the singer entertaining fans while sporting a colourful collection of tailored shorts during last month’s UK heatwave.

Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, celebrated the milestone in an Instagram post, describing her son as someone with a “sunshine personality” and a “beautiful soul”. She said she never imagined he would grow up to break records while doing what he was born to do.

The final night also featured a special appearance by Styles’ sister, Gemma Styles, who joined him on stage before a crowd of around 80,000 people. She praised her brother for creating an “incredible community” and said she was proud of the positive impact he has made on so many lives.

Gemma later admitted on Instagram that addressing such a huge audience left her “legs like jelly” as she struggled to calm her nerves on stage.

Styles launched his “Together, Together” world tour in Amsterdam in May. The tour will next head to São Paulo and Mexico City before arriving in New York, where he is scheduled to perform 30 shows at Madison Square Garden from 21 August to 31 October.

The global tour will conclude in Australia on 13 December, capping off one of the biggest concert runs of the year.
