Fatal Highway Crash Leaves One Dead, Driver Flees Scene

Date:

Police are searching for the driver of a white vehicle who allegedly fled the scene after being involved in a fatal collision along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway early today.

Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the accident occurred at Kilometre 298.8 of the highway at about 5.45am.

Initial investigations found that a brown Perodua Bezza carrying three individuals lost control before crashing into the road barrier and spinning on the highway.

A white car travelling behind the Bezza then collided with the vehicle before leaving the scene without stopping.

Naazron said a 27-year-old female passenger in the Perodua Bezza died at the location due to injuries sustained in the crash.

“The driver, a 20-year-old man, and another male passenger aged 22 suffered injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Serdang Hospital’s Red and Yellow zones,” he said in a statement.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Those convicted under the section face imprisonment of between two and 10 years, as well as a fine ranging from RM5,000 to RM20,000.

Police have urged members of the public with information regarding the accident or the white vehicle involved to contact investigating officer Inspector Ahmad Zahrein Muhd Suod at 017-3818422.
