US Strikes Hit Iranian Communication Tower And Military Sites

Date:

A communication tower in Iran’s Kerman province was targeted on Sunday as part of the latest wave of United States (US) attacks against the country, according to Iranian officials.

The tower, located on elevated ground in the southern part of the province, was among several sites reportedly hit during the latest strikes, Iranian news outlet Entekhab reported, citing local authorities.

Meanwhile, Lorestan Deputy Governor for Political, Security and Social Affairs Saeed Pourali said US forces carried out two overnight airstrikes near Veysian, according to state broadcaster IRIB.

Pourali said there were no casualties reported from the strikes and that the situation had returned to normal.

A military base in the western city of Khondab was also hit by what Iran’s state news agency IRNA described as “enemy projectiles”, citing a senior local official.

Authorities are currently assessing possible casualties and damage following the incident, the official said.

The attacks were part of the third wave of US strikes targeting radar facilities, missile sites and drone-related locations across southern Iran.

The latest escalation followed Iran’s reported attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s announcement that the strategic waterway would be closed until further notice.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said one crew member from the vessel was missing, while Iran claimed it had launched attacks against US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Oman.
