A 34-year-old lorry driver has pleaded guilty to two charges of raping his 14-year-old female silat teammate, resulting in a prison sentence, caning and mandatory counselling.
Muhammad Zaini Mashuri entered his guilty plea after the charges were read before Sessions Court Judge Norhamizah Shaiffudin on Tuesday.
The court heard that the accused became acquainted with the victim through the same silat organisation in which they were both members.
Under the first charge, Muhammad Zaini admitted to raping the teenager inside a car parked along Sungai Ipil Road, Sungai Sumun, Bagan Datuk, between 2.20pm and 4pm sometime in May 2026.
For the second charge, he admitted to raping the victim again on 3 July between 12.30pm and 2.30pm at a house in Bagan Datoh Estate, also in the Bagan Datuk district.
Following his guilty plea, the Sessions Court sentenced the accused to five years’ imprisonment for each charge, with both jail terms to run concurrently. He was also ordered to receive four strokes of the cane.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the court ordered Muhammad Zaini to undergo counselling throughout his imprisonment and to remain under police supervision for two years after completing his jail term.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Anisah Pisol, while the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel during the proceedings.
