Perikatan Nasional (PN) has hinted at unveiling a “more powerful and hard-hitting” strategy alongside UMNO-Barisan Nasional (BN) as both coalitions prepare for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election.
PN Information Chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said all six component parties from PN and BN have reached a broad agreement on the approach they intend to adopt for the state polls.
While declining to reveal specific details, Annuar claimed the strategy would be significantly stronger than previous election campaigns.
“I can’t disclose it yet, but this time the approach will be far more powerful and effective,” he told reporters during an event at Rimbara, Puteri Saadong, Bukit Marak on Tuesday.
He explained that the alliance’s strategy in the Johor state election had focused mainly on limiting its opponents’ gains, whereas the objective in Negeri Sembilan is to wrest control of the state government.
Annuar, who is also a PAS Central Committee member, said PAS will hold a meeting at the party’s headquarters later on Tuesday to finalise the number of seats it will contest and approve its list of candidates ahead of nomination day on Saturday.
He said the party leadership is expected to make the final decision during the meeting, with the official announcement scheduled for Thursday.
“Please be patient. The number of seats, the candidates and where they will contest will be announced by PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang or the party’s secretary-general,” he said.
His remarks come a day after Abdul Hadi confirmed that PAS is prepared to work with UMNO-BN in the Negeri Sembilan election and would even support a BN candidate for Menteri Besar if cooperation between the two sides is finalised.
In the 2023 state election, the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional alliance formed the Negeri Sembilan government after winning 31 of the state’s 36 legislative seats, with PH securing 17 seats, BN 14 seats, while PN won the remaining five.
