Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old local man whose body was discovered at the basement parking area of a building in Cerah Commercial Centre, Beaufort.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Beaufort Hospital.
Beaufort district police chief Superintendent Champin Piuh said the Criminal Investigation Division (BSJ) of the Beaufort District Police Headquarters (IPD) immediately conducted checks at the location after receiving information regarding the incident.
He said police also recorded statements from the victim’s family members and carried out forensic examinations to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
“The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR), and further investigations are still ongoing.
“The public is advised not to make any speculation or spread unverified information while the investigation process is still being carried out,” he said in a statement.
Champin also urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the Beaufort IPD or visiting the nearest police station.
