Early this morning, a tragic car accident at Jalan Kampung Bedengan, Mukah, claimed the life of one passenger and left two others with minor injuries.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving a call about the incident at 4:48 a.m., dispatching firefighters from the Mukah station to the scene, approximately 35 kilometres away.
“Upon arrival, two passengers had already been rescued by members of the public, while another, seated at the back, remained trapped inside the vehicle,” Bomba stated.
Firefighters used rescue tools to extricate the trapped passenger, but the individual was later pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health paramedics.
The two injured passengers were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, while the deceased was handed over to police for further investigation. The rescue operation concluded at 6:54 a.m.
Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the relevant law.
