Apple’s “Awe-Dropping” Event: Thinnest iPhone Ever, Starting at RM3,750!

Date:

Apple has introduced the iPhone Air, its thinnest and lightest iPhone yet, marking the first major redesign in years. CEO Tim Cook called it the “biggest leap ever for iPhone.” The announcement was part of Apple’s annual hardware event at its Cupertino headquarters, which also included updates to Apple Watches and AirPods Pro.

The New iPhone Lineup

The iPhone family now includes:

  • iPhone 17 Base Model – 6.3-inch display with improved durability.
  • iPhone 17 Pro – Redesigned for better heat management, larger battery, and increased memory.
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max – Bigger 6.9-inch display, up to 2TB storage.
  • iPhone Air – Ultra-thin 5.6mm edges, 6.5-inch display, “spacecraft titanium” body, and all-day battery life.

All models feature more durable ceramic shield displays and new colors like lavender, sky blue, and cosmic orange. Apple highlighted the iPhone 17 Pro’s advanced camera capabilities, with the launch event itself filmed entirely on the device.

AirPods Pro 3: Smarter and Health-Friendly

The new AirPods Pro 3 include:

  • Heart-rate monitoring
  • Improved spatial audio and noise cancellation
  • Live language translation
  • Better fit with more ear tip options

These features make the earbuds more versatile, from travel translation to fitness tracking, while integrating seamlessly with Apple’s ecosystem.

Apple Watches: Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3

Apple introduced three upgraded watches:

  • Apple Watch Series 11 – Apple’s thinnest and most comfortable watch, 24-hour battery life, stronger scratch-resistant glass, and 5G connectivity.
  • Apple Watch SE 3 – Enhanced chip with always-on display.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3 – Larger screen, 42-hour battery life, and satellite connectivity for emergencies.

New health features include blood pressure monitoring, sleep scoring, and temperature detection. The AirPods Pro 3 also support heart rate tracking during workouts and monitor calories burned across 50 exercise types.

Affordable Pricing Amid Tariffs

Despite concerns over tariffs, Apple kept pricing mostly consistent:

  • iPhone 17 (256GB) – $799 (~RM3,750)
  • iPhone Air (256GB) – $999 (~RM4,700)
  • iPhone 17 Pro (256GB) – $1,099 (~RM5,160)

All new devices will be available starting September 19.

Focus on Design and Health

Apple’s event emphasized design innovation and health-focused features across devices. From ultra-thin phones to smarter wearables, Apple aims to reinvigorate interest in its hardware while maintaining competitive pricing and functionality.
