The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to affect 10 states and three Federal Territories until 5pm today.
According to MetMalaysia, the warning covers Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah, as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
In Kedah, the affected areas are Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Padang Terap. In Perak, the warning involves Manjung, Perak Tengah and Hilir Perak, while Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong and Rompin in Pahang are also expected to experience adverse weather conditions.
For Selangor, the warning covers Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang. In Negeri Sembilan, the affected districts are Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin, while in Johor, thunderstorms are forecast to affect Tangkak, Segamat and Muar.
In Sarawak, the warning includes Kuching, Samarahan, Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song) and Miri (Subis, Telang Usan and Miri). In Sabah, the affected areas are Kuala Penyu in the Interior Division, as well as Tawau and Semporna in the Tawau Division.
Weather conditions can change rapidly during periods of unstable atmospheric activity, increasing the risk of flash floods, fallen trees and reduced visibility on roads. Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and plan their journeys carefully.
MetMalaysia has urged the public to monitor the latest weather updates and comply with instructions issued by the relevant authorities to ensure their safety throughout the warning period.
