Police Raid ‘Hotspot’ For Illegal Street Racing In Klang, Seven Bikes Seized

Date:

A location identified as a hotspot for illegal street racing and dangerous riding activities along Lebuh Turi and Persiaran Raja Muda Musa was targeted during an Op Samseng Jalanan operation on Sunday.

The operation was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters (IPD) with the cooperation of the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), beginning at 12.01am.

Klang Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey said 13 motorcycles and their riders were inspected during the operation, resulting in 16 summonses being issued for various traffic offences.

He said seven motorcycles were seized for further action, while one case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

“Urine screening tests were also conducted by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) on 12 individuals, and all tests returned negative results for drugs.

“All seized motorcycles and individuals involved were taken to the Klang Selatan Traffic Police Station for further inspection,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Lim said the operation was carried out to curb illegal street racing activities and detect motorists committing traffic offences that could endanger themselves and other road users.

He added that police would continue conducting similar operations from time to time as part of ongoing efforts to prevent dangerous riding activities.

The public has also been urged to obey traffic regulations and practise responsible driving habits to ensure the safety of all road users.

The operation was conducted with the cooperation of AADK and the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
