Man Lends 84g Gold Bracelet To Friend, Still Waiting For Its Return Seven Years Later

Date:

A man in Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province, says he is still trying to recover an 84-gram gold bracelet he lent to a friend seven years ago, with its value now having risen from more than 30,000 yuan (RM17,700) to over 100,000 yuan (RM59,000).

According to Yuan, he met his friend, identified only by the surname Shi, while playing cards in 2018. The pair later became close friends and often met for meals, drinks and karaoke, referring to each other as brothers.

After noticing the gold bracelet, Shi reportedly asked to borrow it for a few days to “look good” on social occasions.

Yuan agreed, but reminded his friend that the bracelet had to be returned and not lost.

However, every time Yuan asked for it back, Shi allegedly came up with different excuses to delay returning it.

When contacted by reporters, Shi claimed he had lent the bracelet to his cousin, who later lost it before being arrested over an unrelated criminal case.

Shi said he intends to resolve the matter by the end of the year.
