Man Left Covered In Blood After Swatting Mosquito Ruptures Vein

Date:

A man in Shanghai was left covered in blood after swatting a mosquito on his neck, unknowingly rupturing a vein and causing severe bleeding.

The man, identified only by his surname Xiong, said he casually slapped a mosquito that had bitten him before boarding a vehicle and initially thought nothing of it.

About 20 minutes later, he noticed his clothes felt sticky and was shocked to find his chest covered in blood.

Despite applying pressure to the wound, the bleeding would not stop, prompting him to seek emergency medical treatment.

Doctors eventually managed to stop the bleeding through compression, preventing the situation from becoming more serious.

Recalling the incident, Xiong said he first felt an itch while riding in the vehicle and instinctively scratched the area.

“I felt a little itchy and scratched it. Then I noticed something felt sticky. The driver turned on the light, and I saw that I was covered in blood. Both the driver and I were terrified,” he said.
