A man was seriously injured after he was allegedly assaulted by two men at Flat Sri Pulau Pinang in Cheras last Saturday, reportedly over claims that he had been disturbing one of the suspects’ younger sister.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received a report about the incident at 3.33am.
Preliminary investigations found that the alleged assault was believed to have been triggered by the suspects’ dissatisfaction with the victim, who was accused of harassing one of their younger sisters.
The victim sustained serious injuries to his nose, eyes and head, and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM).
Acting on information gathered during the investigation, a team from the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD) Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division (BPJKK) arrested two local men, aged 21 and 22, at around 5.22am.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt without the use of a weapon.
Both suspects have been remanded to assist with investigations, and the investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action once completed.
