Nightclub Bouncer Claims Trial Over Alleged Rape Of Student

A 35-year-old nightclub bouncer has claimed trial at the Sessions Court here today over an alleged rape involving a 21-year-old student believed to be a patron of the club.

The accused appeared before Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal and was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

He was accused of committing the offence at the first-floor parking area of a nightclub in Penampang on July 11.

The accused, who was not represented by a lawyer during the proceedings, will have the case mentioned again on Aug 20.

The court granted bail at RM10,000 with a RM5,000 deposit and required two local sureties.

He was also ordered to report to the nearest police station once a month and surrender his passport, if available, until the case is concluded.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Fazriel Fardiansyah Abdul Kadir appeared for the prosecution.
