A Malaysian woman is reconsidering her marriage plans after claiming her fiancé insisted on taking full control of her salary once they are married.
According to mStar, the couple are planning to get married next year. However, the woman said her fiancé had set a condition that left her feeling uneasy.
She claimed her fiancé told her that after they marry, he would be the one to keep and manage all of her monthly income.
When she asked why he wanted full control of her salary, he reportedly explained that the money would be saved and used for family emergencies.
The woman said she expressed her discomfort with the arrangement, but her fiancé remained firm and refused to change his stance.
According to her, he justified the request by saying his own parents had followed the same financial arrangement throughout their marriage and had remained happily together.
Despite this, she questioned whether an arrangement that worked for his parents would necessarily suit their relationship.
The woman also revealed that her fiancé earns between RM4,000 and RM5,000 a month from his full-time job and supplements his income by working part-time as an e-hailing driver.
Although both of them have their own sources of income, she claimed he still insisted on managing all of her salary after they marry.
Concerned by the condition and his unwillingness to accept her objections, the woman turned to the public for advice on whether she should proceed with the wedding plans.
