Six men were killed after the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a one-tonne lorry near Klinik Desa Jambu Rias along Jalan Karak Lama heading towards Temerloh in the early hours of Saturday.
The victims, aged between 15 and 25, were trapped inside the vehicle following the crash and were later confirmed dead by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the department received an emergency call at 4.24am before a team from the Karak Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, we found a road accident involving a Toyota Vios and a one-tonne lorry.
“Six victims inside the Toyota Vios were found trapped and were confirmed dead by MOH personnel,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
He said the lorry driver, a 31-year-old man, suffered injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the victims were handed over to the police for further action.
Mohd Salahuddin added that rescue personnel used specialised equipment, including Rescue Tools and Combi Tools, to remove the victims trapped inside the Toyota Vios.
The operation involved seven firefighters from the Karak Fire and Rescue Station with one Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT), assisted by nine personnel from the Mentakab Fire and Rescue Station with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT).
