Two local men in their 50s were arrested following a high-speed police chase that began in Sri Damansara and ended in Gombak late Friday night.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the incident started at about 11.57pm after a patrol team attempted to stop a vehicle for inspection along Persiaran Dagang, Sri Damansara.
He said the driver refused to stop and instead drove dangerously through several areas before police managed to trace the vehicle to Jalan Sungai Pusu, Gombak.
During the attempted arrest, the driver allegedly acted aggressively by reversing into a police patrol vehicle before speeding away again.
The vehicle later crashed into two parked cars along the roadside, allowing police to detain the driver and his male passenger.
Initial checks found that both suspects had previous criminal records involving various offences.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions, as well as Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving.
Shamsudin advised the public not to spread unverified information or make assumptions regarding the incident.
