A 28-year-old man was killed after the car he was driving skidded off the road near the Jalan Aman roundabout early Sunday morning.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said it received an emergency call regarding the accident at around 3.33am.
Bomba said the crash involved a single vehicle carrying three people, with two passengers managing to escape while the driver was trapped inside the car.
The victim, identified as Mackson Manggi Kassim, was found trapped in the vehicle when firefighters arrived at the scene. His two passengers, a 26-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, survived the accident.
The female passenger was found semi-conscious, while the male passenger suffered minor injuries following the crash.
Firefighters used specialised rescue equipment to remove the trapped driver before handing him over to Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel for further assessment.
Following an examination by medical officers, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bomba said the rescue operation involved eight firefighters and was completed at around 4.30am.
