PM Anwar Urges Security Personnel To Support PH In Negri Sembilan Polls

Date:

Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on military and police personnel casting their early votes in the Negri Sembilan state election to continue supporting PH candidates.

The Prime Minister said every ballot cast would play an important role in determining the state’s future while also serving as a mandate for his administration to continue strengthening the welfare of security personnel and their families.

In a social media post, Anwar appealed to members of the armed forces, police and their families to place their trust in PH candidates as they carry out their voting responsibilities.

He said each vote represented more than just a decision on the state government, but also a responsibility to ensure continued efforts in improving the well-being of those serving the country.

PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) formed the Negri Sembilan government after the 2023 state election, winning a combined 31 out of 36 seats. PH secured 17 seats, BN won 14, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) captured the remaining five.

Anwar acknowledged that more work needed to be done, saying the government’s current efforts were still not enough to address all challenges faced by the people.

He added that with continued support and a fresh mandate, the administration would strive to strengthen the nation’s standing, protect public welfare and improve the quality of life for security forces and their families.

Early voting for the Negri Sembilan election will be held on July 28, involving 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, along with 5,455 police personnel.

The official polling day is scheduled for Aug 1.
