A tourist’s video showcasing an unexpectedly spacious hotel room in Inner Mongolia has gone viral, with many social media users stunned by what she described as incredible value for money.
The video, posted on July 22, featured a hotel room in Dalad Banner, Ordos, where the tourist said she paid just 200 yuan (approximately RM119) per night. She joked that the room was so large that “you could run inside the bathroom.”
Speaking to local media, the woman, identified only as Ms Tang, said she and a friend stayed at the hotel on July 6. They paid a total of 469 yuan (approximately RM279) for two king rooms, with each room costing just over 200 yuan (RM119).
She explained that because the hotel was not fully booked that day, staff upgraded both of their rooms to deluxe king rooms at no extra charge. She estimated the room measured between 70 and 80 square metres and praised its modern design, cleanliness and spacious layout.
Photos and videos shared online showed the deluxe room featuring a large walk-in wardrobe and an oversized bathroom, attracting widespread attention from internet users.
A check on online booking platforms shows the hotel currently charges 259 yuan (approximately RM154) per night for a standard room, 283 yuan (approximately RM168) for a superior king room and 317 yuan (approximately RM188) for a deluxe king room.
A hotel staff member confirmed that room rates have increased by several dozen yuan due to the current peak travel season. The staff added that while standard rooms measure 32 square metres, both the superior and deluxe king rooms are 68 square metres and come equipped with walk-in wardrobes, making them significantly more spacious.
