A woman is being sought by police after she was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing seafood from a market in Ninghua County, Fujian Province, in eastern China.
The incident occurred at around 8am on July 26 at the Ninghua Central Farmers’ Market, where the suspect allegedly carried out six separate thefts within six minutes.
Surveillance footage showed the woman, who was wearing a face mask, using a net to scoop up fish, prawns and other seafood before moving to a corner to transfer the items into a bag she had brought with her.
The suspect reportedly repeated the process several times, filling an entire bag with stolen seafood before leaving the market.
Traders only discovered the theft after noticing missing stock and reviewing CCTV footage, which revealed the woman’s actions.
On July 27, Cuijiang Police Station confirmed that the affected vendors had lodged a police report and that officers are working to identify and locate the suspect.
Police said the woman will be dealt with according to the law once she is apprehended.
