Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the launch of the National AI Initiative, which will provide free artificial intelligence (AI) courses and AI software to Malaysians aged between 18 and 30.

Speaking at the launch of AI Malaysia, Anwar said the programme will officially open for applications on Aug 31 through the Digital Rakyat platform.

He said the first phase of the initiative is expected to benefit 100,000 young Malaysians.

“The programme aims to improve public understanding and practical use of AI, especially among young people, while accelerating Malaysia’s journey towards becoming an AI-driven nation,” he said.

Participants who complete the required courses will receive a three-month subscription to a leading AI software platform at no cost.

The training modules will cover AI safety, cybersecurity, Agentic AI, generative AI and cloud computing under the “Cloud for the People” initiative.

Applications will be open to all Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 30, beginning on Aug 31.
