A video circulating widely on social media that appears to show Justin Bieber in a compromising situation has been confirmed to be AI-generated, according to multiple fact-checkers.
The clip, which has gained millions of views on X, was shared by several accounts claiming to show the singer in a recently leaked video. Many posts included little or no context, prompting widespread speculation among users.
However, independent fact-checkers have concluded that the footage is not authentic. Observers pointed to noticeable changes in the subject’s facial features throughout the 12-second clip, a common sign of AI-generated content.
A community note attached to one of the viral posts states that the video does not depict the real Justin Bieber. It adds that the changing facial structure is consistent with AI-generated artefacts and directs users to Bieber’s official social media accounts for genuine recent content.
The incident highlights the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create fake videos of public figures. Unlike previous cases involving genuine private images being leaked, AI technology now allows fabricated content to be created and spread rapidly online without the subject’s involvement.
The issue has become increasingly common on social media, where some accounts regularly post AI-generated videos depicting celebrities in fabricated and compromising scenarios. The viral Bieber clip is among the latest examples drawing attention to the problem.
Bieber has previously been the target of privacy violations. In 2015, unauthorised nude photographs of the singer were leaked online after hackers gained access to private images, an incident he reportedly described as a violation of his privacy.
The latest viral clip, however, is not an authentic recording but an AI-generated fabrication, underscoring growing concerns over the misuse of generative AI and the spread of misleading digital content.
