Three people were killed after a diesel tanker collided with a Perodua Myvi along the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai road near Gua Sejuk early Thursday morning.
The victims were an adult man, an adult woman and a young boy, while another woman was reported to have sustained injuries in the crash.
Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli said his department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 7.16am.
He said the operation involved two fire engines and eight firefighters from the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station.
“The tanker was believed to be travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu. The collision caused the victims to become trapped inside the vehicle and firefighters used rescue equipment to remove them,” he said when contacted.
The injured victim was later sent to Gua Musang Hospital for further treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to police for further action.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
