UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said his lawyer will issue a letter of demand (LOD) next week following allegations made against him in a Chinese-language DAP political speech that resurfaced on social media.
Akmal claimed the speaker had accused him of being involved in corruption and labelled him as an extremist, prompting him to consider legal action over the remarks.
He said the matter would be taken to court and insisted that he was prepared to defend himself against the allegations.
“Do not worry, my lawyer will issue an LOD next week. We will answer in court and fight this matter in court,” he said in a social media post on Saturday.
Previously, Akmal shared a video clip containing excerpts from a Chinese-language speech by a DAP leader, which he claimed linked him to accusations of extremism, corruption and insults against his reputation.
He also claimed that the speaker had mentioned PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang during the speech.
According to Akmal, the speaker had also discussed the need to retain liberal Malay leaders and raised concerns over efforts to unite the Malay community.
He said the remarks went against calls for political campaigns to be conducted responsibly without attacking or insulting individuals.
“They insulted people, insulted names and spread various allegations. They say one thing but do another. Insya-Allah, we will meet in court,” he said.
Akmal added that legal action would be pursued to address what he described as defamatory statements made against him.
