UMNO Urges Supporters To Stay Humble After Negeri Sembilan Victory

Date:

UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters have been urged not to mock or insult rival parties that lost in the Negeri Sembilan state election.

UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said such actions should be avoided despite BN having faced criticism and allegations throughout the election campaign.

He reminded supporters not to repeat past mistakes by showing arrogance, instead calling on them to focus on carrying out the mandate given by the people with sincerity and humility.

Asyraf Wajdi said the victory achieved by BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) showed that cooperation between major Malay-based parties, while prioritising the people’s interests, could create a stronger political force.

He said the election outcome should not be viewed as a personal achievement, but as a responsibility made possible through public trust and support.

According to him, differences were successfully set aside in Negeri Sembilan to restore political stability, drive state development and prioritise the welfare of residents.

He stressed that the victory was not the end of the journey but the beginning of a greater responsibility for the newly formed administration.

Asyraf Wajdi thanked Negeri Sembilan voters for giving BN and PN their mandate, pledging that the coalition would uphold a stable, clean and integrity-driven government that focuses on the people’s well-being.

Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun previously announced that BN won 18 out of 36 state seats, followed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 11 seats and PN with seven seats.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also announced that a new state government would be formed after BN and PN secured a combined majority of 25 seats in the state assembly.
