Company Director Remanded By MACC Over Alleged RM300,000 Bribery Linked To Renovation Projects

Date:

A company director has been remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over allegations of offering RM300,000 in bribes to secure renovation projects involving a statutory body.

The suspect is believed to have bribed a former chief operating officer (COO) of the statutory body in exchange for assistance in obtaining renovation contracts.

A Magistrate’s Court in Putrajaya granted a two-day remand order until August 5 after an application was made by the MACC on Tuesday.

According to a source, the man, who is in his 50s and owns a design company, was arrested at around 7.30pm on Monday after appearing at the MACC headquarters to give his statement.

Preliminary investigations found that the alleged offences took place between 2014 and 2018.

The suspect is believed to have provided bribes in the form of renovation works for four residential properties owned by the former COO, with the total value of the renovations estimated at RM300,000.

The arrest follows investigations by a special task force established to examine findings contained in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji, which was publicly released through the official portal of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) on July 29, 2026.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
