Police have recorded statements from 10 witnesses as investigations continue into the deaths of two teenage girls who were found at a vacant residential building in Buntong, Perak, last month.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said those questioned included school representatives, teachers and close friends of the victims.
According to him, investigators are gathering information surrounding the incident as authorities work to establish what happened and complete their investigation.
Several personal belongings belonging to the victims have also been submitted for forensic examination, although the results have yet to be received.
Mohd Alwi said preliminary investigations have so far found no indication of criminal elements surrounding the deaths.
The case previously drew attention after the families of the two teenage girls reportedly expressed their intention to pursue legal action, alleging possible negligence connected to the tragedy.
Their concerns reportedly centred on the condition of the 15-storey residential building, which was allegedly left without proper fencing and appeared similar to an abandoned development.
The lack of barriers was alleged to have allowed members of the public, including children, to enter the premises freely, raising wider concerns over safety measures surrounding vacant or unused buildings.
