PM Anwar Approves Nurul Izzah’s Temporary Leave From PKR Deputy President Role

Date:

PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved Nurul Izzah Anwar’s request to take temporary leave from her position as the party’s deputy president, saying the decision was supported by valid reasons.

Anwar said Nurul Izzah had a special programme outside the party that required her attention for a certain period, but stressed that she would remain active in PKR.

“She has a special programme outside the party for a short while, so I can accept it. However, she remains active in the party,” he told reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Ar-Rasyidin here.

The decision came after the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) on Thursday approved Nurul Izzah’s request to step aside temporarily from the deputy president position.

PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was discussed during the MPP meeting before the decision was made.

Following the decision, PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will take on the duties of deputy president on an interim basis.

The temporary arrangement allows the party to continue its operations smoothly while Nurul Izzah attends to her external commitments.
