A man was arrested after police uncovered various types of drugs worth nearly RM30,000 during a raid at a house in Kampung Teluk Saga, Kampung Gajah, on Thursday night.
Perak Tengah district police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the operation was carried out by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Perak police contingent headquarters at about 9.30pm.
He said the raid followed information received by police regarding suspected drug abuse and distribution activities in the area. A man was detained after officers conducted a search at the living room of the house.
Further inspection led to the seizure of nine transparent plastic packets containing suspected heroin weighing 146.33g, along with six packets of suspected methamphetamine weighing 24.70g.
Police also found 17 pieces of aluminium foil containing 170 suspected Erimin 5 pills, with a gross weight of 53.38g.
Hafezul said enforcement officers also seized 41 cartoon-printed plastic packets, each containing a vape cartridge filled with liquid suspected to contain ketamine. The liquid had a gross weight of 360.80g, with its volume estimated at 123ml.
The total value of the drugs seized was estimated at RM29,991.50.
A urine screening test conducted on the suspect also returned positive for methamphetamine, while police seized a Proton Waja, a Honda RS150 motorcycle and RM3,372 in cash under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
The case is being investigated under Sections 39B and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Aug 7 to Aug 13 to assist with investigations.
Hafezul said the seizure demonstrated the importance of continued cooperation between the public and enforcement agencies, particularly the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), in tackling drug-related activities.
He urged members of the public to provide information on suspected drug abuse or distribution activities to police, saying such cooperation would help strengthen enforcement efforts and curb drug-related crime in Perak.
