A group of individuals believed to have been involved in a heated argument in the middle of the North-South Expressway heading south near here today caught the attention of passing motorists.
The incident went viral on social media after several recordings showed a number of people standing on the expressway while traffic was already congested.
At least three individuals, believed to include the drivers of a Ferrari and a Perodua Aruz, as well as a motorcyclist, were seen in the middle of the road following what appeared to be a misunderstanding between them.
The unusual scene forced motorists approaching the area to slow down, with some reportedly reducing their speed to observe the altercation. Such behaviour also contributed to the traffic disruption, particularly as drivers focused on the incident instead of maintaining a steady flow.
One Threads user claimed the argument had become one of the reasons traffic in the area worsened, as motorists slowed down to see what was happening.
“That’s what caused the congestion! They can even fight in the middle of the expressway,” the user posted.
Meanwhile, an individual who claimed to be the motorcyclist seen in the footage came forward to explain his involvement, saying he had stopped to help break up the argument.
“I was the one riding the motorcycle. I was trying to break up the fight. They could actually fight in the middle of the expressway. The cause was the Ferrari suddenly changing lanes to the left,” he claimed.
Other social media users also criticised motorists travelling in the opposite direction for slowing down to watch the incident despite the altercation taking place on the other side of the expressway.
“Those on the other side were also being nosy, even though the fight wasn’t happening in their lane. No wonder there was a traffic jam,” a user named Arif commented.
Another user, Esya, claimed the congestion stretched from beyond the Seremban area and affected both directions of the expressway.
