Police have arrested a 33-year-old woman after a video showing her allegedly smashing the rear windscreen and taillights of a car with a vegetable knife went viral on social media.
Kulim district police chief Superintendent Syamsul Sinring said the incident occurred at a shoplot in Taman Kemuning last night.
The suspect reportedly approached a Perodua Myvi belonging to a factory worker before suddenly damaging the vehicle using the knife.
Several witnesses who witnessed the incident contacted the police, resulting in the woman’s arrest.
Syamsul said police checks found that the suspect holds a mental health card and has been receiving psychiatric treatment at Kulim Hospital since 2012.
“She last received treatment in June. Police assisted in sending her to Kulim Hospital for treatment,” he said.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident, which gained attention online after footage of the damage was widely shared.
