A 49-year-old man was found dead in a palm oil plantation in Banting on Sunday in what police believe may have been a murder.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said police received information about the incident from the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) branch at the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters (IPD) at around 5pm.
“The victim, aged 49, was found unconscious at the palm oil plantation,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Following the discovery, police arrested eight individuals who are suspected to be connected to the case.
An investigation paper has been opened under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which covers murder.
If convicted, offenders face the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, along with at least 12 strokes of the cane, under the current provision.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
