Police Seize Luxury Goods As Five Held In Cheras Burglary Probe

Date:

Police have dismantled a house burglary syndicate allegedly involving five Chinese nationals following their arrests in two separate raids in Sri Petaling and Pudu on Sunday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the arrests were made by the Cheras District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) following a house break-in reported at Taman Desa Petaling on Aug 4.

He said the victim suffered estimated losses of RM6,000, including cash, jewellery and a branded crossbody bag.

“Acting on information and intelligence, police launched two raids at about 9.30pm in the Sri Petaling and Pudu areas.

“During the raids, police seized a vehicle along with various equipment believed to have been used in house break-ins,” he said in a statement today.

Police also recovered items belonging to the complainant, as well as other luxury goods including watches, wallets and cash in various foreign currencies amounting to more than RM10,000.

Fadil said preliminary investigations found that the suspects were also allegedly linked to two other separate house break-in cases reported in the Cheras area.

The five suspects, aged between 38 and 58, have been remanded from Monday until tomorrow to assist investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

The arrests are expected to help police establish the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and determine whether the group was involved in other similar cases.
