Early Morning Crash Kills Motorcyclist, Teen Girlfriend Hospitalised

Date:

A 21-year-old motorcyclist died while his 16-year-old girlfriend was injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on crashed along KM2.4 of Jalan Kluang-Teck Wa Hing on Sunday morning.

Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the accident happened at about 5.30am as the pair were travelling from Simpang Renggam towards Bandar Kluang.

He said the motorcycle reportedly lost control before veering off the road and crashing onto the left shoulder.

“The 21-year-old rider suffered severe injuries to his face, chest and body and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Bahrin said in a statement on Sunday.

The victim’s teenage girlfriend suffered injuries to her head and hip and was rushed to Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom for treatment.

She remained under observation in the hospital’s Yellow Zone, with her condition being monitored by medical personnel.

Road accidents involving motorcycles remain a serious concern, particularly when riders lose control on roads during the early hours when visibility and road conditions can pose additional risks.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
