A 17-year-old Form Five student from a secondary school in Pulau Sebang has been remanded for two days after allegedly assaulting a Form Four student in an incident last Friday.
The Alor Gajah Magistrate’s Court granted the remand order against the teenager until August 19 to assist police investigations.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly punched the victim repeatedly and kicked him several times, striking him on the face, head, abdomen and private parts.
Alor Gajah District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred at around 10am while the victim was cleaning the whiteboard inside a classroom.
Preliminary investigations found that a misunderstanding had allegedly developed between the two students after the victim was said to have used offensive language against the suspect through WhatsApp.
“The suspect then allegedly confronted the victim over his dissatisfaction before assaulting him,” Ahmad said on Tuesday.
The victim later told his father about the incident and was taken to the Simpang Ampat Health Clinic for treatment.
He was subsequently referred to Melaka Hospital, where he was admitted for a day for further examination.
The victim’s father later lodged a police report, leading to the Form Five student being remanded for two days.
Police are investigating the case under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation respectively.
