Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been conferred the Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.) by Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
The prestigious royal award carries the title Dato Laila Utama and was presented during an audience ceremony at Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.
The ceremony was witnessed by Crown Prince of Brunei Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah, alongside several senior Malaysian leaders.
Among those present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Anwar and the Malaysian delegation arrived at Istana Nurul Iman at around 11am for the ceremony.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Anwar are also expected to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a committee for disaster management cooperation between Malaysia and Brunei.
Anwar arrived in Brunei on Friday for a two-day working visit to attend the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-27) between Malaysia and Brunei, which focuses on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
