A 15-year-old girl was found lying exhausted by the roadside after walking about four kilometres from her home following an argument with her mother over going out for a meal with her boyfriend.
The teenager was discovered by a member of the public along Jalan Kemuning on Thursday night, who alerted the police at around 11.30pm.
Machang District Police Chief Superintendent Azuhar Md Nor said initial investigations found that the girl had left her home in Kok Lanas, Ketereh, at around 9pm and walked several kilometres.
He said the teenager had reportedly left home without her family’s permission and continued on foot until reaching Kem Desa Pahlawan in Bukit Cina, near Kok Lanas, where she approached an unidentified motorcyclist for a ride.
“The investigation found that she asked the motorcyclist to drop her off by the roadside along Jalan Kemuning. She was fully dressed but became exhausted and fainted at the location before being discovered by a member of the public,” he said when contacted by Kosmo! today.
Azuhar said there was no basis to suggest that the teenager had been abandoned or dumped by anyone at the roadside.
The girl was subsequently taken to Hospital Machang before being referred to Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra in Kuala Krai for further treatment. Her condition was reported to be stable.
