Ten undocumented migrants escaped from the Tanah Merah Immigration Depot early this morning, according to police.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said all 10 migrants were under the custody of the Kelantan Immigration Department at the time of the incident.
“It happened at about 3am today. We will investigate further,” he said during a press conference at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters here.
Mohd Yusoff said police had issued an alert to activate a lockdown operation around the depot.
The operation aims to track down and recapture all 10 migrants who escaped from the facility.
